10th Neonatal Pain Symposium: From Multi- to Transdisciplinarity

How can we better understand and relieve pain in newborns? What if the answer lay in a multidisciplinary approach?

On February 6th, the 10th Neonatal Pain Symposium brought together researchers and clinicians with a common goal: enrich practices by combining perspectives and expertise.

Pierrick Poisbeau, leader of the “Adversity & Pain in life” team at EURIDOL, was among the renowned speakers invited to this edition. His participation illustrates EURIDOL's commitment to translational research that serves the most vulnerable patients from the very first moments of life.

The day highlighted the shift from a multidisciplinary approach, where different areas of expertise coexist, to a truly transdisciplinary approach, where they interact and enrich each other to improve the management of neonatal pain.

The programme:

  • Singing as therapeutic support
  • Supporting parents throughout the care process
  • Epigenetic regulation and its early implications
  • The role of physiotherapists, osteopaths and lactation consultants in supporting breastfeeding
  • Other complementary approaches for newborns
  • The discussions, conferences and workshops highlighted the importance of integrating innovative and complementary approaches in order to bring about lasting change in professional practices in neonatology.

Pierrick Poisbeau's participation in this conference is fully in line with EURIDOL's mission: to better understand the mechanisms of pain at all stages of life and to promote dialogue between fundamental research, clinical research and field practices.
