Team "Biopathology of Myelin, Neuroprotection & Therapeutic Strategies"

Director: Ayikoé-Guy Mensah-Nyagan

The Inserm Unit 1119 directed by Prof. Ayikoé-Guy Mensah-Nyagan is devoted to a biomedical and translational research for the development of effective therapeutic strategies against neurological and neurodegenerative diseases, including myelin disorders (multiple sclerosis and neuromyelitis optica), Alzheimer's disease and peripheral neuropathy-induced sensorimotor dysfunctions and neuropathic pain. The Laboratory gathers basic researchers, clinical neurologists, engineers and technicians combining their complementary expertise to elucidate the mechanisms involved in these disorders and to characterize novel neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory and/or analgesic compounds to innovate safe and effective treatments of patients.
