Thursday, March 26th (9 am. to 6 pm.) & Friday, March 27th (8.30 am. to 12.30 pm.)
Vlès Amphitheater - Institut de physiologie et de chimie biologique (IPCB)
Campus Esplanade
21 rue René Descartes, 67000 Strasbourg.
Chronic pain affects a significant number of the European population and is one of the main reasons for medical consultation. Beyond its high prevalence, it represents a major public health issue with a considerable socioeconomic impact, particularly in the workplace. Often associated with somatic and psychiatric comorbidities, chronic pain remains poorly understood and inadequately treated due to the complexity of its mechanisms and the lack of truly effective and personalized therapeutic strategies.
Recent advances in neuroscience and medicine, particularly in neuroimaging, personalized medicine, and non-drug approaches, are now opening up new perspectives. However, pain research remains fragmented and needs to be better structured in order to strengthen national and international collaborations between basic, clinical, and translational research.
Created jointly by the CNRS and Inserm, the Pain Thematic Network aims to bring together national players in pain research and promote their integration into major European initiatives, notably BrainHealth. It already includes coordinators and partners from European projects, including Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) and projects supported by ERA-NET Neuron.
Organized over three half-days, this symposium will bring together around 150 researchers and students in the field. It will feature:
- scientific conferences,
- thematic round tables,
- discussion sessions,
- student presentations.
